Changing leaves, crisp air, and pumpkin spice galore! Fall is finally upon us here in Butler County, and we’re ready to make the most of the season. MetroParks offers prime opportunities for leaf peeping on our various trails, but there are several happenings in our county beyond the parks. We’ve partnered with Travel Butler County to bring you a complete autumn guide so you don’t miss a thing this season. With so much to see and do throughout the county, we divided our list into local zones for travel convenience. How many of these must-dos will you cross off your list this fall? Go big or gourd home!
North
Dave’s Trace Trail at Meadow Ridge Area of Elk Creek MetroPark

Dave’s Trace is an easy 2.8-mile loop around the Meadow Ridge area of Elk Creek MetroPark in Middletown. Here, you’ll find the perfect landscape for leaf peeping with picturesque pond views along the path.
Barn-n-Bunk

Located in Trenton, Barn-n-Bunk is a unique farm market with a wide array of foods, produce, and crafts. Their Fall Festival Weekends are already underway, offering entertainment and fun for the whole family.
State Street Coffee

As a locally owned coffee shop, State Street Coffee offers incredible custom drinks, including some seasonal favorites. Don’t know what to get? Try one of their specialty coffee or espresso flights to sample flavors and find what you like.

Chief Cornstalk Trail at Governor Bebb MetroPark

The Chief Cornstalk Trail is a 0.8-mile loop within Governor Bebb MetroPark. With countless tree species, you’ll find a wide range of colors along the trail, making for a hike you don’t want to miss.
Salty Dog Car Museum

Calling all classic car enthusiasts! The Salty Dog Museum will take you back in time through the evolution of classic automobiles. Here, you’ll find classics ranging from the early 1900s to the 1970s. Experiencing the cars up close is fun for the entire family.

Great Miami River Trail & Cascades Trail at Rentschler Forest MetroPark

The Great Miami River Trail is an 11.3-mile paved out-and-back trail, perfect for biking through autumnal vistas. For those who prefer a traditional hike, the 0.8-mile loop Cascades Trail offers several scenic views along its path, including a suspension bridge and waterfall…the perfect backdrops for fall colors.

Cross Country Route at Voice of America MetroPark

The Cross Country Route at Voice of America is a loop trail through the park’s meadows and prairies. Though there are no trees for leaf peeping, you’ll be able to spot countless fall wildflowers, migrating birds, and falling seeds along the path, other signs of autumn’s arrival.

Addy Werling
Addy is a senior at Miami University in Oxford with a major in marketing. She recently joined the MetroParks team as an intern in the summer of 2022. With a love for writing and connecting with others, she has helped MetroParks in the creation of their very first blog, Footprints. Although she had only set foot in one MetroPark when she began, she is excited to explore new green spaces here in Butler County and showcase them on the blog. Beyond her work, Addy enjoys spending time outside, camping, running, hiking, and playing with her dog, Max.
